On May 23rd, the Light4Lungs project held a one-day open event titled “Who is Afraid of the Light? New Therapies for Lung Infections” at the IQS facilities in Barcelona, Spain. The event took place as the project approaches its final stages. The event provided a comprehensive overview of the project’s advances, challenges, and significance for patients, clinicians, and the medical and pharmaceutical industries.
The morning session was addressed at the general public interested in new therapeutic strategies for treating lung infections and addressing antimicrobial resistance. It began with a clinician discussing the importance of lung infections and their impact on patients. This was followed by an overview of the Light4Lungs project, where all partners involved highlighted their contributions, showcasing the multidisciplinary and collaborative efforts of the project.
In the afternoon, the focus shifted to the transition from laboratory research to patient treatments. Attendees heard a series of scientific and technical presentations from key speakers representing various institutions, including the European Innovation Council, the National Research Council of Italy, the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg, the Hospital Universitari Germans Trias i Pujol, Biocat, and IQS. It was an opportunity to discuss the future perspectives for the project.
